There’s a someone for everyone out there.

I have seen so many WRX+Forester/Crosstrek/Outback garages. It’s a no-brainer for some people.

Tacoma and Supra. Some combo of that might work to 100k.

WRX STI for me, BMW I3 for her.

Not in the garage. Ideally we’re moving out to Arizona in the near future.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 14:33 |

With the Supra, a Toyota garage is actually desirable.
6 cylinder 2021 Supra for me and Rav4 Prime for her ( My wife will drive only a Hybrid/Electric)

Easy...Kia Stinger GT and Kia Telluride

Commuting on a motorcycle when it’s over 100F feels like having a giant hair dryer blowing on you...but at least you’re not a sweaty mess since the air is so dry. It’s uncomfortable, but not unbearable.

I need to get my wife into a Forester or Ascent. She hates our Outback.
Come to think of it, she likes driving my WRX but hates riding in it.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 14:45 |

The forester is so much smaller and more agile than the outback. It’s a very different car .
![]() 06/09/2020 at 14:45 |

Are they still making the i3?
![]() 06/09/2020 at 14:47 |

Golf R and a leftover Touareg (OK, so they stopped in 2017. Fine. R-Line Tiguan then)
![]() 06/09/2020 at 14:47 |

For her, it’s more about comfort. Both the Outback and WRX are too loud for her taste. The Outback has the additional strike of uncomfortable seats (for her, at least).
![]() 06/09/2020 at 14:48 |

There is a 2020 model year, yeah! It would fit on our driveway and really be helpful for the short distance to the train station.

$100K total MSRP ? Not doable for me $100k out the door no prob!
SO gets a 4-banger X3 pretty similar to my current while I move to a manual M240i. Probably money to spare. Even better we just keep and pay off my current but better X3
![]() 06/09/2020 at 14:53 |

New GT4 for me, Porsche handbag for her. =)
![]() 06/09/2020 at 14:54 |

Same brand, dude!
![]() 06/09/2020 at 14:55 |

Taking into account real requirements like practicality and stuff?
Veloster N and Elantra GT N-line. There’s reason these are the two cars I looked at most when shopping in November.
If I ignore the practicality requirements I’d go C8 Corvette and a Bolt.

Hot take: I would not pick a vehicle for a partner because a) they know better than I what’s good for them, and b) if things go wrong I could be blamed.

I want to say Miata for me and CX-9 for her, but what probably fits better is what we already have, a K900 and a Sedona. Maybe on alternate Tuesdays I’d go Stinger instead.
Maybe I could convince her to go F-type and F-Pace. That still fits the price range, doesn’t it?
![]() 06/09/2020 at 15:07 |

That’d be on my short list, too.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 15:08 |

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited for her
and a Jeep Gladiator for me... just kidding! No
one needs two FCA-era
Jeeps!
Probably the Outback or Ascent for her since she loves her Crosstrek and a WRX for me. We’re keeping the TJ and the tow/farm rig in this scenario, right? Crazy how easy it is to hit the $100k max, especially if you want one that can tow, but let’s be real, the jeepoftheseus household buys used.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 15:09 |

Rav-4 Hybrid or Prime and 4 cyl Supra. I’m a not a high hp guy

Upgrade her Town and Country to a Hybrid Pacifica, upgrade the 3.5 Ecobost SuperCab 6-foot bed Lariat F-150 to a 2.7 Ecoboost SuperCab 6-foot bed Lariat F-150 with CarPlay . Done.

CX-9 and Miata RF. I haven’t looked at the pricing but I suspect that I’ll be way under the $100K cap, even with top-of-the-line trim levels.
I’m tired of Germans, but I still want vehicles that are fun to drive.
Although not ideal, perhaps I would go the Chevy route since you did say 2019 vehicles. I picked a C8 because I couldn’t think of any other Chevrolet that I would want besides the Volt.

If I want to avoid the SUV/MInivan trap of having kids I’m going with V olvos so:
One V60 R-Design in Fusion Red Metallic
One V90 R-Design in Bursting Blue Metallic

VW Golf R for me, VW Atlas for her.
Or for a proper ‘Murican option, Dodge Charger Scat Pack for me and Dodge Durango R/T for her.

V90 for me, S60 for wife.

I’d love a Dodge V8-only Garage
![]() 06/09/2020 at 15:31 |

It can be done:
And this is with every conceivable option and extra selected - over $7K remaining.

My wife really likes the Niro Green Lexus RX350. I’ll take the GX460 to still have some ability to tow. I’m going to pretend that the “base” models are a real thing, and that I’d sneak in under the budget at $98k total.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 15:55 |

Easy. Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition for my wife. And some floor mats for me with the money left over I guess?
![]() 06/09/2020 at 15:59 |

$100k limit? In that case, one RWD 6MT M240i in Sunset Orange for me, one 330i M Sport in Individual Velvet Blue for her. Wi th a little negotiation and going sparse on the options, it’s doable.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 16:05 |

Hmm. I’m not a big have of anything that would be currently in production and would be priced suitably. Except Caterhams of course . So two of these please . T he exact models depend on the import taxes that need to be paid . My imaginary girlfriend is so hot that she does n’t mind driving a convertible during winter.

$43k for a Miata. Unreal.

That red GT4 on BaT is calling to me. I sent it to my wife, she laughed.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 16:14 |

Tough call - depends on if my wife demands me have a sedan . If not, then this:
GT350
Explorer
If she wants me to have a sedan, then:
Stinger GT2
Telluride SX
If I want a divorce:
Corvette C8
Spark

Have you ever priced out a Mac Pro? All of a sudden that Miata seems affordable!
Well, that includes $7,400 in unnecessary extras and accessories; I went crazy to see how high I could get it, but I don’t think I’d really buy one configured like that. In addition, I’d probably go for a cheaper club version rather than grand touring trim, maybe even a soft top instead of the RF. If you keep yourself in check when it comes to the options , getting a well-equipped TOTL RF will be well under $40K.

After conferring with Ms. Saracen..
For our Hawaii home: 4Runner TRD for here, GR Supra for me.
For Mainland:
If we have to stick to MSRP: Q5 2.0T for her, RS3 for me.
If I can haggle, and considering what kind of deals we can get these days: Macan 2.0T for her, Cayman 2.0T for me.

Single so might as well spend the allotted $$
![]() 06/09/2020 at 16:46 |

Looks like the market for first gens might be softening...
All four of
these didn’t
sell
in the $70-80k range (but that’s where buyers are at - maybe coronavirus-affected, we’ll see).
My hope is that, since they’re Cayman-based and “just” a GT4, not a GT3, they’ll actually depreciate and be available in the $50-60k range at some point down the line
.
997 GT3s still go for $90k..
.
As much as I want to have one, their suspension is probably way too harsh for how I’d want to use it - the new Cayman GTS 4.0 might be the sweet spot for me.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 16:47 |

This is tough, because my wife wants nothing to do with a new car. She doesn’t like technology or all the stuff that’s packed into cars these days.
So, I'll go Yaris for her and Tacoma for me.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 16:51 |

I’m not surprised the market is softening. They’re bailing out and upgrading to 718 GT4/Spyder/GTS 4.0.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 16:55 |

The GT4 is my “goals” Porsche. I can easily see myself in a Cayman S or 911S someday not too far in the future, but the GT4 I feel both suits me best and would let me taste that awesome “GT” tier of P-cars. If they keep moving down, even slowly, I might have a shot.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 17:06 |

Well, I like import tuner cars but she likes BMW products.
We’ll take two!
![]() 06/09/2020 at 17:12 |

I think I’m either at a Mazda with a Miata / CX30 or Chevrolet Corvette Z51 and Colorado. The Chevy option would definitely be close to the 100k cap, but I think it could be done.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 17:15 |
|
For me: Chevy Corvette 2LT Z51 for $77, 015
For the fiancée: a base Trax LS but with optional cruise control (!!) because I don’t hate her for $19,840
That leaves $3145 for new wheels for the Vette
![]() 06/09/2020 at 17:19 |

Model X ( cheapest one for her per the rules) , C6 Z06 for me... ( i don’t want anything else, against the rules because r ockstar)
![]() 06/09/2020 at 17:43 |
|
Yep - what’s your guess on the “floor” for where these will bottom out?
Only 2500 of them
made...
![]() 06/09/2020 at 17:46 |

Hope you get there! It’s the same for me, just might not be the right choice. It’s the one, perhaps within reach in 5-10 years, that I lust after, but may not be the right one to “marry”. I live out in the country, and the roads around here are just too rough for such a low,
track-focused car.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 18:14 |

Own 1/2 this garage already, but ZR2 in Shadow Gray.
Camaro SS 1LE in Rally Green
![]() 06/09/2020 at 19:13 |

RAV4 Prime, and a Tacoma TRD. I’d be fine with that.
Or his and hers Rams. I’m pretty sure she’s be down for that if I had 100k laying around.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 19:16 |

Yeah, due to their rarity and desirability, it’s looking like the low 70's is the bottom right now for clean, low mileage cars. I think they’re propped up by the desirability of the 997 GT3's.
I think the only way I’d have enough headroom is if I could find one with LWB’s, but I would consider one if it gets to the mid-60's. The new 718 GT4's 4 liter engine is more “special”, but I’m sure the first gen GT4 is great to drive in its own right.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 21:26 |

The lady deserves an Ecoboost Flex, and I’ll take an Ecoboost Transit. Us e the leftover funds for tunes and upgrades.
![]() 06/09/2020 at 22:36 |

More special, but still not “real” 4.0 special...

Isuzu D-max double cab manual for me
Isuzu MU-X manual for her

Two cars that would easily last 20 years or more.
